The buses refer to the order signed between Hefei Public Transport Group and Ankai Bus for 150 electric city buses on 20 Sep. 2010, which is the biggest order for electric city buses in China by far. The first 60 units have been delivered successfully before.

According to the related principal of Ankai Bus, Ankai drive technology (super-capacitor plus battery) focuses on power and durability of electric vehicles, enabling electric buses long constant driving range, fast speed, high energy recovery in operation, good acceleration, starting and gradeability. The recharging of each of these buses only takes 3 to 5 hours with the constant driving range of over 300km, no less than that of conventional buses.

It is known that there have been 30 Ankai electric city buses in operation in the bus routes of No.18, No.60 and Express No.1 in last January in Hefei. No.18 is the first route where all electric buses run in the world. With the operation for one year, these buses are highly appraised by the local transport operators and citizens for good after-sales service as well as performance. As of now, the overall ranges of these 30 buses have almost reached 1.2 million kilometers (about 40,000 km for each unit).
