The drives for the new generation of the Iveco Eurocargo are supplied by ZF Friedrichshafen AG. Depending on the engine rating and gross vehicle weight, the successful medium-duty truck is equipped with the manual ZF transmissions, Ecolite and Ecomid. Both transmissions feature freedom from maintenance, durability, and user friendliness. Another, automated option is the ZF-AS Tronic lite transmission. Its advantages are economic efficiency, easy handling, and safety.
With a gross vehicle weight of six to 19 tons and various Euro 5 standard diesel engines, the new Eurocargo by Iveco covers a wide range of applications – just like its predecessor. The medium-duty truck is used in municipal and delivery traffic as well as on construction sites, by local authorities or public utility companies. To ensure that the right drive is chosen for every application, Iveco is offering the new Eurocargo with different ZF transmissions: the manual transmissions, Ecolite and Ecomid, as well as the optional, automated AS Tronic lite transmission. Additional gearshift comfort in the case of manual transmissions is ensured by the Servoshift pneumatic shifting aid.
The manual 9-speed Ecomid transmission is destined for applications in delivery trucks. This mid-sized transmission range by ZF is particularly suitable for torque ranges between 1,000 and 1,300 Newton meters. The clutch bell is fully integrated into the housing.
Actually, three versions are available for the application range of light delivery trucks and transporters, covering torques from 500 to 1,050 Newton meters. In addition to the well-proven 5-speed transmission, the 6-speed Ecolite transmission facilitates working conditions in the smallest commercial vehicle class, as it works according to the same principles as its larger brothers. Moreover, it is the basis of the automated AS Tronic lite by ZF.
The 6-speed AS Tronic lite transmission for light trucks (500 to 1,050 Newton meters) features an electrohydraulic shift module – it is more compact than pneumatic units and is therefore easier to integrate. The electrohydraulic transmission requires no compressed-air supply. This is an advantage for the vehicle manufacturer because he does not have to modify the pneumatic system of the vehicle to integrate the AS Tronic lite. Thus, the transmission can be integrated as a complete unit, even in vehicles which are not equipped with compressed-air supply.
