MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG has received two major orders from European capitals with a combined order value of over ? 140 million. Following deliveries of 200 vehicles by the end of 2007, the Berlin transport authority (BVG) has ordered a further 200 MAN Lion’s City DD double-decker buses. The French capital Paris has also opted for innovative MAN city buses. MAN Camion & Bus France has won its biggest order to date on the French market; it is worth approximately ? 60 million.

The new Berlin order should be completed by 2010 and is worth about ? 80 million. The MAN Lion’s City DD is one of the new completely low-floor double-decker generation for Berlin, which has been at home on the streets of Berlin since 2004. The Lion’s City DD won the renowned iF Award for its exceptional design in 2006.

The Paris transport authority (RATP) has ordered 186 of the modern low-floor MAN Lion’s City articulated buses. Some of these vehicles will be put into service on the prestigious route from the Paris airport Charles de Gaulle to the Paris opera. In 2007 fifteen new Lion’s City G buses had already been delivered. These are fitted with a translucent concertina section from the supplier ContiTech, which now also provides more light in the interior of all the new buses and hence makes for a pleasant atmosphere. All of MAN’s city buses are powered by modern common-rail diesel engines without urea additives in accordance with the MAN Pure Diesel? principle.
