China's Auto Parts Trade Volume Increases in H1

China imported automobile components worth US$8.115 billion in the first six months of this year, up 19.86% over the same period last year, while total exports were US$15.374 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21.48%.
The imported auto parts include US$2.302 billion worth of driving system parts, a year-on-year increase of 21.5%; US$1.882 billion worth of body parts and accessories, an increase of 21.5%; and US$1.047 billion worth of other components, an increase of 32.58%. In addition, imported engine parts hit US$1.314 billion during this period, an increase of 27.95%; and imports of petrol engine-use components were worth US$860 million, an increase of 8.01%.
Japan was the top source country. China imported from Japan US$3.192 billion worth of auto parts in the first half of the year, which accounted for 39.33% of total imports. Other major import source countries were Germany, Korea, the U.S. and France.
The export of auto components from China continued to rise in the first half of 2008. Exports for America amounted to US$4.107 billion, making up 26.71% of the total auto components exports. Other major target countries were Japan, Korea, Germany and the Netherlands.
Among auto components exports, the major exports were: travel system components valued at US$4.056 billion, a decrease of 6.4%; auto electronic components worth US$3.076 billion, an increase of 35.45%; along with body parts and accessories and other auto parts.
