BITZER is Showing Concept Study with Hermetic Vehicle Compressor

Sindelfingen, Hanover,25.09.2008. As a core element of future air-conditioning concepts in omnibuses, BITZER is presenting the ECT201K at the IAA Commercial Vehicle 2008. The new mobile vehicle compressor opts for the natural refrigerant CO2(R744) and works with a rapidly rotating, infinitely adjustable EC motor with state-of-the-art design.

Designed for the capacity range of between three and four kilowatts of cooling capacity, the EC motor installed in the concept study can be infinitely regulated in a speed range of between 2,200 and 5,500 rpm. The hermetic scroll vehicle compressor can thus be adapted in an energy efficient manner in a bandwidth of 40 to 100 per cent to the respective load condition. The suction gas-cooled EC motor is designed for the 24 VDC on-board network operation in buses and can optionally be integrated in on-roof or front systems. Compared to the model ECH209Y which has already been successfully introduced on the market for the air conditioning of buses and drivers’ cabs, the concept study is up to 25 per cent lighter and even more compact.

For Sylvain Gully, BITZER product manager for transport and screw compressors, the series-near concept study highlights the innovative strength of BITZER and its long-term partner Spheros:” In particular thanks to its light weight and compact design, this adjustable CO2 vehicle compressor is peerless.”

The BITZER group of companies is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of refrigerant compressors. BITZER is globally represented with sales companies and production sites for stroke piston, screw and scroll compressors as well as pressure vessels. In 2007, some 2,600 employees generated consolidated sales of EUR 462 million.
