FAW and Brilliance still in Talk

2008-12-04    Source:english.chinabuses.com

News from Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Company, BMW's partner in China, said it had been approached about a possible takeover but had not discussed a merger with larger rival FAW Group. Media reported earlier this year that FAW Group was in talks to take over Brilliance Jinbei with an eye to eventually buying the parent of the listed Brilliance.

FAW Group is a global leader in the vehicle manufacturing industry with a 50-year history of innovation. Founded in 1953, FAW employs 133,000 people around the world and sells products in over 70 countries. China Brilliance Automobile Holding Company [CBA]---the first Chinese company listed on a foreign stock exchange---went public on the list of New York Stock Exchange, USA in Oct 1992 (Stock Code: CBA). CBA possesses two complete car brands ("Zhonghua" series & "Jinbei" series, self-manufactured) and three complete car products (proprietary Zhonghua passenger car; Jinbei Haise minibus, covering nearly 60% of domestic market share among similar models).
