Mar. 8, 2009: In line with the State Council’s plan on the readjustment and revitalization of China’s auto industry, FAW Group remade its strategies on new energy development and sped up its production of hybrid vehicles. It plans to make 120 units of hybrid coaches this year. By 2012, its output of hybrid vehicles is expected to reach 2,400 units.
As one of the automakers first set its foot in hybrid vehicle field, FAW Group made several breakthroughs in research and development (R&D) in this new field during China’s ninth, tenth, and eleventh “Five-Year Plan”.
In late 2008, the company started the construction of its production base for new-energy vehicles in Dalian, a coastal city in Liaoning Province in Northeast China. By making full use of its expertise and competitive edge in the field of hybrid coaches, FAW Group is now actively involved in popularizing the trial operation of the new type of vehicles in Changchun and Dalian.
In 2009, FAW also plans to produce 20 units of hybrid sedans. In 2012, their output will soar to 1,600 units. Till then, its production base of hybrid sedans with an annual production capacity of 11,000 units will be put into operation.
