Apr. 7, 2009: at BAAV Award Ceremony, Bonluck reaped “2009 Best New Energy Bus Award” and “2009 Best New Energy Coach Award” by presenting its JXK6120 pure electric bus and JXK6830 pure electric coach.
On Apr. 8, 2009, LI Han, Manager of the Overseas Dept. of Bonluck was invited by Chinabuses.com to share Bonluck’s path on new energy buses.
Chinabuses.com: given the favorable policies from government to revitalize the auto market, a host of domestic bus & coach builders have attached great importance to the development of new energy bus & coach. In face of the intense market competition, how does Bonluck plan to blaze its trail in this field?
LI Han: We always strive to make a difference for the world. In order to achieve that goal, we have been closely watching the new market trend. Back in 2008, our company rolled out hybrid buses. This year, we introduced pure electric buses to the market. Always one step ahead of the market has rendered Bonluck, still quite a young player in the bus sector great competitiveness.
Chinabuses.com: currently, the manufacturing techniques for new energy buses & coaches are varying significantly from business to business and each bus builder is focusing on different areas, could you please tell us what’s Bonluck’s strengths and weaknesses?
LI Han: To many Chinese customers, new energy technology is still quite new to them. Even though there have been a lot of media reports on this subject, the commercial application of the new energy technology in bus & coach manufacturing still has a long way to go. Our first new energy bus is to show to the world that China also has the capability of producing pure electric bus. Currently, the bus still has some weaknesses, but we are trying our best to improve it and we hope our export of the first pure electric bus to Australia will represent the top production expertise in the field around the globe.
In terms of technology, one bottleneck for the further development of pure electric bus is how to balance the battery weight and mileage. The more the battery weighs, the less the bus can travel. In the future, we will work hard in this area.
Chinabuses.com: heavy investments and high marketability are quite needed to develop new bus manufacturing techniques, how do you view Bonluck’s market outlook in pure electric bus market?
LI Han: currently, our new bus model has been very well received by the clients. In less than three hours this morning, many European customers have shown their great interests in our product.
Chinabuses.com: at present, such bus builders as Zhongtong and Ankai are also quite actively involved in R&D of pure electric buses. Will Bonluck take any concrete measures to popularize its new energy bus in the domestic market? How will your company take advantage of the government’s favorable policies?
LI Han: Bonluck is now an export-oriented enterprise. While doing our export business, we have always been trying to shifting our focus to the domestic market. As a new player in the bus sector, we still have a long way to go to gain customers’ recognition in China. So, right now we are doing our utmost to maintain our overseas business and establish our brand image abroad. Moreover, some domestic government agencies and public transport companies are now in talks with us for purchasing pure electric buses. We believe we can do business both at home and abroad through our unremitting efforts.
