Dubbed as a "Black Horse" in China’s bus & coach industry, Shanghai Shenlong Bus became the biggest winner at this year’s exhibition by sweeping four big awards, including "2009 BAAV Bus Award", "2009 BAAV Environmentally Friendly Bus Award", "2009 BAAV Bus Builder Award" and "2009 BAAV China’s Original Bus Award".
How can such a newcomer make such great achievements? Chinabuses.com took an interview with CHEN Xuan, Deputy General Manger of the Sales Company of Shanghai Shenlong Bus Co., Ltd. According to Mr. CHEN, the company has its own unique way of doing business so that it managed maintaining a continued high growth rate in the past three years.

In 2008, the company ranked the 14th place in China’s bus & coach industry in terms of sales volume, up five spots compared with the previous year. Both its production and sales values exceeded RMB 1 billion (about USD 146 million). Its export value ranked the eighth place in the same year. In addition, the company invested RMB 320 million (about USD 46.85 million) and set up a production base boasting an annual production capacity of 10,000 buses and covering an area of 200,000 square meters in Shanghai Minhang Industrial Development Zone. In the past three years, the company passed TS16949 quality management certificate, ISO14001 environment management system and OHSA18001 occupational health & safety management system certificate.
Since its establishment, Shanghai Shenlong has seen an exponential growth, which defies the development pace of any other players in this field. However, the company still has a long way to go to further expand its business scale.

Bearing "a little progress everyday", Shenlong has been constantly improving its business model. As a fairly young player in the market, it is yet to grow strength to compete with other big players in China.
