The joint venture, Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., which is funded by Foton and Cummins, held a ceremony for 400,000 units’ engines production on June 9, 2009, the world's top level diesel ISF3.8 Cummins engines come to production in Beijing, they will be installed in Aumark, Auman, Ollin and MP.X.


 
With the production of 400,000 units Cummins 2.8L and 3.8L light-duty diesel engines, with the existing 200,000 units Ollin engines project and the planned 300,000 units direct injection gasoline engines, Foton is close to the target of building the largest engines production base with an annual 1 million production capacity.

 

In the production ceremony, Foton Cummins also signed the "Europe V product technology licensing contract", Foton and Cummins signed cooperation memo on developing products with Euro V emission standard or above. Currently, researching and developing of Europe V, VI emission standards have been put on the agenda, the signing of the cooperation agreement, on one hand, it shows that Foton has made preparations for technical reserves and future development; on the other hand, it shows Foton wants long-term and permanent cooperation with Cummins. The two sides also express cooperation in a broader field and working for mutual benefit.

 

Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd was funded by Foton and Cummins in March 2008, each accounted for 50% of total shares, the total investment reaches more than 2.7 billion yuan ($396 million), it is the largest engine manufacturer in China.
