English.chinabuses.com: at a press conference held by Beijing Municipal Government Information Office on Jun. 16. 2009, it was revealed that the first batch of 50 units of Foton AUV hybrid buses would be put into service on bus line 74 and 121 in the capital in this month. Foton AUV hybrid bus goes off production line
In late 2008, Beijing Public Transport Group and Foton Automobile inked a deal, according to which, the bus operator would buy 450 units of new energy buses and 350 units of bus chassis of the same type in 2009. After the delivery of the first batch, the rest buses and bus chassis are expected to be handed to their customer in due time.

Having been put into operation for nearly two years in Guangzhou, each Foton AUV hybrid bus has saved up to 7,700 liters of fuel and cut NOx and inhalable particles by 27% and 19% respectively. Apart from impressively high fuel economy, the bus also boasts high durability and drivability. Thanks to this, the bus is gaining increasing favors in many other Chinese cities.
In terms of emission-free all-electric buses, Beijing already put 50 units of buses of this type into operation before Olympic Games. This year, the city still plans to purchase another batch of 50 units, thus expanding the pollution-free bus fleet into 100 units.
