Yaojian, spokesperson of Ministry of Commerce said American International Trade Committee has reached the verdict that the massive import of Chinese tires have caused or threatened the industry development in U.S.; Chinese government shows a great regret to this.

China hopes U.S. Administration takes mutual benefit of related industries into consideration and does not take special protection measures in subsequent investigation.

It has been proved that the tires made in China do not have direct competition relationship with similar products made in U.S., the import of Chinese tires have not done any harm to the industries in U.S., the restriction on Chinese tires import will not help ease the problems that U.S. confronted .The verdict of American International Trade Committee disobeys the objective fact, and violates World Trade Organization and related provisions in U.S.

YaoJian pointed out that U.S. Steel Worker Federation has just won the support of half of the tires workers; U.S. tires manufactures have not claimed any loss form import of Chinese tires; American Tire Industry Association, which represents production, sales, maintenance, recycle of US tires industry clearly opposes the special protection measures; Cato Institute, which is a Think tank of U.S., also thinks the restriction will gain more disadvantages. All these reflect the above-mentioned measures are not in accord with legal conditions.

Yaojian stressed that China hopes U.S. Administration takes mutual benefit of related industries into consideration and does not take special protection measures in subsequent investigation. The Chinese government will help the negotiation and consultancy among the tires industry, and do whatever we can to create a fair, stable business environment.
