National New Energy Vehicle Base under Construction in Chongqing

www.chinabuses.org: Recently Chongqing government, together with Ministry of Public Works and Department of Science and Technology, is promoting high-tech electric vehicle program to establish national new energy vehicle base, our correspondent learned in 2009 China International Cars and Motorcycles Industry Development and Cooperation Peak on October 28, 2009.
It’s learned that Chongqing is committing to build Chinese hometown of vehicles and motorcycles. Currently there are 27 complete vehicle enterprises with more than one million sales and production volumes last year, and 80% of which were made in China. As many as 1,200,000 vehicles were produced and sold during the first nine months in 2009, up 40% year on year, and it predicted that production and sales volumes of the whole may surpass 1,500,000 units. Chongqing will invest as much as 1,500,000,000,000 RMB (about 219,698,692,769 USD) for ten leading programs which are all over dozens of billions to establish information industry, heavy industry and equipment manufacturing industry including cars and motorcycles in the following five years.
Currently 87% of domestic buses adopt Qijiang gears and their transmission and gears are sold to more than 100 countries and regions all over the world. And they will serve Shanghai World Expo in 2010. As reported, they are going to build state-level fundamental spare parts manufacturer base including gears and related mechanism industry to become vital spare parts production base as China is transforming from giant vehicle manufacture ring country to strong country.
