Tempt of fuel-saving

Kaifeng public transport company is the only public transport company with more than 500 vehicles and 1,500 employees.

These buses, adopted JAC bus chassis, were purchased from JAC Bus Company in June 2009. After two-month operation, Kaifeng Public Transport Company is very satisfied with their power, reliability, especially economical efficiency. According to their statistics, fuel consumption per 100 km is around 8.5-9 liters, while ten-meter above large buses have to be equipped with six-cylinder diesel engine with fuel consumption per 100 km up to 25-27 liters. That is to say fuel consumed by one large bus can support three midibuses.

Six-meter bus is very practical

The overall consumption level is low in Kaifeng. Six-meter midibuses are chosen for practical considerations. Firstly, actual load rate in Kaifeng is not high, and six-meter midibus can meet needs of many lines; Secondly, Kaifeng is an ancient capital of six dynasties, and there are many narrow streets so such midibuses can run flexibly; Thirdly, the prices for over ten-meter buses can buy two or three six-meter midibuses.

It proved that the midibuses can not only meet needs of city buses, but also achieved good effects in economic efficiency. Since low fuel consumption reduced operation costs, Kaifeng Public Transport Company will purchase buses equipped JAC 4DA1 engine and chassis as the top priority in the future, stated Guo Jianxin, head of locomotive department of Kaifeng Public Transport Company.
