Hang Jianping, the executive deputy GM of the sails company of GAAC claimed, "These are gas-electric hybrid power buses". And this type of buses has been listed in the search and development plan in 2008 and realized the mass production with the basically grown technology as well as the annual production of 1000 to 2000 buses. From the analysis of the test data, they are able to save about 20% to 25% energy and discharge less pollutant compared with the buses currently used in Guangzhou.

 

"In addition, we will supply 150 to 180 special vehicles for Asian Games." said Hang Japing. GAAC has been the advanced partner of the 16th Asian Games. The Second Bus Company of Guangzhou has ordered 30 buses of this type and will apply them in the beginning of 2010. It is said that SBCG will use them on BRT, but he claimed that the specific route hasn't been confirmed yet.

 

In terms of the dispute about whether LPG bus is environmental and whether the new energy buses are more fuel conservation and environmental than LPG buses produced by them, the related expert said that "LPG buses are fuel-gas buses, also a kind of hybrid power buses." It is certain that the electric buses are the forthcoming trend for the further development. Zhang Weixiong, the Chairman of the Guangzhou First Automobile Co., Ltd.expressed in an interview that he was positive about the replacing of LPG buses with hybrid power buses.” It will not only reduce the energy consumption and emission, but also save annual operation cost of more 11.7 thousand USD than that of LPG buses.
