China Pure Electric Buses Program on the Move

www.chinabuses.org: Currently, it is easy to see pure electric buses in Beijing, the capital of China. All of these new energy vehicles are manufactured by Chinese bus companies. Equipped with 200 lithium batteries, an electric bus can run more than 200 km on a single charge. The cost of each green bus reaches 1 million Yuan ($ 146,453.63). A traditional gasoline-powered bus usually costs about 600,000 Yuan.
Although the cost of electric buses is higher than traditional buses, the government gives a 500,000 Yuan subsidy for each bus. That makes it cheaper than gasoline-powered bus. This is the key reason for promotion at the beginning. According to short-term development plan, Chinese government will raise annual production capacity to 500,000 electric cars and buses by the end of 2011 from 2,100 units last year. The green and clean energy program is the key to China's long term development.
