2009-12-02    Source:www.chinabuses.org

www.chinabuses.org: "Environmental protection is our consistent pursuit, and we are always looking for new environmental technology used in public transport field,” said Zhang Weixiong, chairman of Guangzhou FAW Bus Co., Ltd. which is also the biggest LPG environmental protection company. After invested billions of RMB in environmental protection changes, they focused on fuel-electric hybrid public transport buses.

The Hong Kong citizen who is going to be awarded honorary citizenship of Guangzhou has just inspected auto environmental protection technology in the US, and he was quoted as saying he is optimistic about hybrid public transport bus market. “Social technology is always progressing, and public transport industry should also walk ahead to look for environmental-oriented technology application. Hybrid vehicles are better than LPG regardless of economy as well as environmentally protection. And operation cost for a hybrid bus should be less than 80,000 RMB (about 11,000 USD) than a LPG bus, and the carbon emission will be more than 27 tons less than traditional vehicles after ten years of operation. ”

"We are the first domestic enterprise introducing hybrid public transport buses, and also the first bus company using double-deck hybrid public transport buses around the globe,” said Zhang Weihao proudly. It’s reported that after Guangzhou FAW Bus Company introduced thirty hybrid city buses from the US, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Chengdu introduced like products one after the other. Currently, there are about 1,000 hybrid buses in Beijing and 2,000 units will be purchased next year, and Shanghai is going to buy 450 hybrid buses for 2010 World Expo.

Guangzhou FAW is always keeping their concept of environmentally protection. And there are nearly 2,500 LPG city buses after environmental-oriented changes.
