BYD eBUS-12

The BYD “eBUS-12” all-electric bus is BYD’s first pure-electric bus and the first Iron-Phosphate powered e-Bus in the world. The eBUS-12 is 12 meters long designed for customer transport comfort.  The specially designed wheel-hub motor and the electronically controlled air suspension give the eBUS-12 an exceptionally low floor and ample door and floor space for easy passenger loading and unloading.

The front windscreen occupies 2/3 of the front face of the bus for maximum viewing and safety. The silver body conveys an elegant exterior image, while the interior boasts adjustable leather drivers seating, high-quality colorful leather seats for passengers and a carefully engineered sound insulation keep the interior ride whisper quiet.

As BYD’s first pure electric bus, the eBUS-12 also employs many advanced technologies developed by BYD internally.  For example, the Iron-phosphate or “Fe Battery” used on the eBUS-12 is non-polluting: the materials contained in the battery can be recycled or easily disposed of.

eBUS-12 Project
As the exclusive supplier to the 2011 Universiade, BYD delivered 200 electric buses (eBUS-12) and  300 electric cars (e6) to the event. After that, the 200 electric buses (eBUS-12) have all been put into regular passenger service in the Shenzhen public transportation system. The accumulated mileage of the eBUS-12 in Shenzhen alone has surpassed 4 million kilometers (or 2.48 million miles) by the end of February 2012. BYD electric buses are now running in four cities in China, including Shenzhen, Changsha, Shaoguan and Xi'an.
