Visiting bus plants
BCI’s Mr. Brennan and Mr. Fung spoke at length with senior management, especially those in charge of overseas departments, who were knowledgeable of the latest developments in the China bus industry and their ambition to expand their international markets. In addition to 13.7m luxurious coaches, BCI also showed interest in other body styles, hybrid powertrains, CNG and hydrogen fuel cell technologies. In addition, they visited the assembly plants of some bus manufacturers. Mr. Brennan said, “attention to design, detail, and safety were evident everywhere we looked as was the pride in the faces and actions of the employees.”
Discussion with leaders in charge of Chinese bus plant
BCI, in business since 2007, is a major supplier of 13.7m motor coaches. BCI continues to innovate and is exploring new markets and technologies, and after three years has partnered with several growing operators in strategic areas who recognize the attractive value proposition that BCI has created. Commitment to their products and customers is demonstrated by the fact that BCI has developed the only Chinese built motor coach that complies with engine emissions standards mandated by the US federal government (EPA2010).
Mr. Brennan and Mr. Fung were very impressed with the Chinese bus manufacturers they visited. Mr. Brennan stated that Chinese bus builders are among the finest in the world and BCI will continue focusing on the China bus industry. It was apparent during the visit that BCI and Chinese bus builders have shared ideas and goals. They expressed their appreciation and thanks to www.chinabuses.org for the well planned, and well executed travel and meeting arrangements. We expect making similar arrangements between China bus builders and foreign bus organizations in the future.
