www.chinabuses.org: It shows prospective prospect in China-ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) Free Trade Area since foundation. According to the data by China's Ministry of Commerce, ASEAN has become the third largest export market and the fourth large trading partner for China. The exporting of our vehicles to ASEAN, especially commercial vehicles shows vigorous.

Based on customs statistics, it has exported 12,866 vehicles to ASEAN countries, year-on-year growth of 120% (much more than year-on-year growth of 52% for vehicle exporting), which accounts for about 12% in the total exporting vehicles.

It is introduced by related experts that many of ASEAN countries set non-tariff trade barriers and heavy prohibitive duty to protect own automobile industry. Some countries implement import license system, for example, it conducts 65% import tariff on the automotives with emission less than 1.5 liter and 70% on the ones with emission between 1.5 and 3.0 liters in Indonesia. Before 2005, it imposed 300% import tariff for the automotives with emission of more than 3.0 liters. Such duties and non-tariff trade barriers block the entering of auto builders from other countries to the local market.

According to the agreement between China and ASEAN countries, it carries on zero tariff for 90% of commodity in China and 6 ASEAN countries (Brunei,Indonesia,Malaysia,Philippines,Singapore and Thailand) and the same measures for China and 4 new ASEAN countries (Vietnam,Laos,Cambodia and Burma) in 2015. Since 1 January 2010, the there has been zero tariff for importing of automobiles and auto parts, which means new business opportunity for China auto companies. Many international auto corporations also enlarge production scale and establish joint ventures in ASEAN.
