BRT Proposal for South Dublin

2010-10-15    Source:

www.chinabuses.org: A Bus Rapid Transit service is being proposed for Dublin. The four-mile route in South Dublin would link St Vincent’s University Hospital and Sandyford Central and would connect with Luas light rail and Dart heavy rail services. The service, BlueLine, is being promoted by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown county council in association with University College Dublin, the hospital, state broadcaster RTÉ and the Sandyford Business Estates Association.

It would cost €33million (£29million) to build, and articulated buses would operate on a six-minute frequency. There is no funding in place, but the promoters want to see the service being included in the transport strategy for Greater Dublin which is being developed by the National Transport Authority.
