www.chinabuses.org: Beijing in planning to carry out tougher vehicle emission standard to improve air conditions and they are panning to apply national 5 emission standard in 2012, said Du Shaozhong, deputy director general of Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau during 2010 China Auto Industry Development Forum last month in Beijing.
Mr. Du expressed that there would be at least three way of benefits if national 5 emission standard is carried out, the first is that vehicles pollutants emitted can be largely reduced, the pollutants can be reduced 30%-50% each time the emission standard updated in the past few years. The second is to promote development of auto technology, especially engine development and brake technology. And the third is to raise the quality of vehicle oils.
Currently China commercial vehicles with national 3 emission standards are mass produced and sold. And it was told that there are usually three to four years between each emission standard updates, national 4 standard will be carried out next year and national 5 emission standard will be implemented in four years.
A technician from Iveco told our journalist that they may lose Beijing markets if they do not have qualified vehicles at that time, so was a researcher from JAC. He said that JAC will start preparing and research vehicles with national 5 standard.
