Yutong, King Long, Higer & Golden Dragon Bus Increase Industry Concentration

www.chinabuses.org: In 2010, China bus industry gets full recovery with the growth of almost 30% (25% for large and medium buses). AS the leading builder, Yutong Bus sells 41169 buses, year-on-year growth of 46.1%, referring the sales amount of over 20.8 billion Yuan, year-on-year growth of 38.7%. The production and the sales volume of King Long Bus, Higer Bus and Golden Dragon Bus exceed 20,000 units. One expert said that, "It is the unprecedented growth for this industry in this decade."


According to the latest data, the market shares of Yutong, King Long, Higer and Golden Dragon reach 53% in the large and medium buses market, higher than that of other 40 bus builders (Yutong: 26%, 5 more percentages than last year). The market pattern that Yutong Bus takes the leading and Yutong, King Long, Higer and Golden Dragon closely follow, other builders actively go ahead) has been formed. Based on one expert’s judgments, "The industry concentration will be further higher and the leading of the top bus builders will be gradually increased."


The tourist market demand is stimulated and promoted in the background of the fast and steady development of domestic economy and great events such as the World Expo in Shanghai, Asian Games in Guangzhou and the construction of Hainan International Tourism Island in 2010. In the meantime, the exporting bus market picks up quickly with the sales volume about 14000 units. Yutong Bus exports around 3000 units, year-on-year growth of 174%, accounting for 22% of the total.


However, some experts believed that the great development of China bus industry contributes to the national economic policies and the ahead of consumption due to great events. So there are some uncertain factors affected by the continuously increasing inflation pressure and put forward that theses factors will offer new opportunities that urbanization development, new energy, overseas exporting and special vehicles such as school buses during the period of "the twelfth five-year plan".


With urbanization, the market demand on buses will be increase in the second or third line cities and new energy presents the future direction of automobile industry that is supported with emphasis by the state. On 7 January 2011, Yutong Bus announced preplan for allotment of shares and planed to invest 2.5 billion Yuan for new energy development.
