NPC/CPPCC: to Develop School Bus Industry

www.chinabuses.org: Currently traffic accidents are the biggest reason to kill primary school and middle school students, and Tang Yuxiang, Chairman of Yutong Bus, submitted a bill to develop school buses.
Mr. Tang advices that we should refer to American ways of school bus operation to make sure safety of primary school students and ease traffic jams. According to their research, the school bus project has to be funded by state revenues and managed independently. And they must follow uniform standards which must be higher than conventional buses. He pointed out that school bus industry can drive at least industry chains valuing forty billion Yuan, including social values such as create jobs and expenditures.
Currently about ninety million students need to ride on school buses, and the markets are about one million units, and annual replacement will amount to 100,000 units to 150,000 units.
In July last year, Safety Requirements for School Buses, formulated by
Yutong Bus, Iveco etc., was published by National Bureau of Quality Inspection. And 3,000 school buses made by Yutong, Huanghai and FAW were sold to all over China. Professional school buses can only be produced by some large bus builders since seats and safety belts are designed accordingly.
