Ankai Bus Promotes the Development of New Energy Vehicles in Hefei City

www.chinabuses.org: On 3 April 2011, 90 Ankai electric city buses were formally operated in the routes in Hefei. The buses refer to the order signed between Hefei Public Transport Group and Ankai Bus for 150 electric city buses on 20 Sep. 2010, which is the biggest order for electric city buses in China by far. The first 60 units have been delivered successfully before. The operation of 90 electric city buses marks the coming of the fast development phase for new energy vehicles in Hefei City.

Hefei is one of the first pilot cities for new energy vehicle project “ten cities & one thousand vehicles” and it plans to build 21,100 charging points and 20 stations and to promote 22500 new energy vehicles by 2012. The actual service of 150 Ankai electric buses will promote this city the leading one for new energy buses in China.
It is known that there have been 30 Ankai electric city buses in operation in the bus routes of No.18, No.60 and Express No.1 in last January in Hefei. No.18 is the first route where all electric buses run in the world. With the operation for one year, these buses are highly appraised by the local transport operators and citizens for good after-sales service as well as performance. As of now, the overall ranges of these 30 buses have almost reached 1.2 million kilometers (about 40,000 km for each unit).
Ankai electric buses are the flagship of China new energy city buses and own obvious advantages in technology development, marketing and market scale. At present, Ankai electric buses take about 80% of the electric buses operated in China. In 2010, the first 50 Ankai city buses (National V) have been delivered to Beijing Public Transport Company and operated successfully for almost a half of year.
In January 2011, Anhui Electric Power Corporation, Ankai Bus, JAC Automobile and GuoXuan High Tech Power Energy Company held the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement of power supply for new energy vehicles and marked that we have stepped into new development phase of our new energy bus industry and the new mode is gradually forming that the industrialization development of new energy buses is promoted through the construction of smart regenerative charging service network.
Wang Jiang’an, chairman of Ankai Bus revealed that Ankai Bus would invest about 500 million Yuan RMB on the new energy vehicles and related technology development, focusing on the construction of the third plant (construction phase: 3 years; annual production of 6000 new energy buses and 12,000 relevant key components.
