Foton Further Extends the New Energy Vehicle Market

www.chinabuses.org: Since 2003, Foton has been dedicated to the new energy, referring to plug-in hybrid power multi-function vehicles, electric multi-function vehicles, hybrid power buses, fuel cell buses, electric buses, electric light-duty sanitation trucks and hybrid light trucks.
At present, the accumulated sales volume of new energy vehicles has reached over 3000 units, including hybrid power buses, electric buses, electric light-duty sanitation trucks and electric taxies, as one of the domestic major auto producers. Based on the future plan of Foton, the auto sales volume will come 4 million units, new energy products accounting for 25% by 2020.
According to Zhao Jingguang, deputy secretary of Party Committee of Foton, Foton will focus on five key business in the plan during the period from 2011 to 2020: energy-conservation products, new energy vehicles, internet of things for automobiles, financial service and heavy machinery.
The strategy “5+3+1” is the core of the Plan 2020. “5” means the foundation of overseas plants in five countries (India, Russia, Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia) by 2015 ; “3” aims at three global high-end auto markets in North America, EU and Japan, Korea with complete vehicles and engines; “1” represents the headquarters in China for creative, business management and operation center. Concerning the overseas business, Foton sets the objective as the annual sales of 500,000 units by 2015.
