www.chinabuses.org: On 20th September 2011, Feng Xingfu, deputy general manager of Beijing Public Transport Group revealed on the industry forum that all new or updating city buses in Beijing have to comply with National V standard in the future two or three years. In addition, the development of electric city buses is an important objective in the future.

According to Feng Xingfu, there have been 26640 units city buses in Beijing currently. In September 2010, Beijing Public Transport Group has just completed the tender of first 727 units diesel city buses (National V standard). On 3rd January 2011, the first 100 units city buses (National V standard) have been operated in Beijing. It is predicted that Euro Ⅳ standard will be implemented in Beijing.

It is know that there are more than 700 units new energy city buses among over 20000 city buses in Beijing. He showed that three operation modes are taken in consideration: firstly, the operation of the fleet of electric buses and conventional buses; secondly, the operation of fast recharging electric buses and slow recharging ones; thirdly, the adjustment of operation routes (more electric city buses in the routes with small passenger flow and of short distance).
