According to the related staff from Beiqi Foton Motor, this plant is mainly related to the manufacturing of new energy buses, such as hybrid power and electric buses, annual sales revenues of almost 18 billion Yuan and employment of over 4000 staffs. Beiqi Foton Motor will invest more on new technologies to launch more new energy buses, based on this plant in Guandong. In addition, this auto producer plans to implement the project of components of new energy buses, making the production base and development center of power battery module systems of new energy vehicles.
Since 13th March 2009, Beiqi Foton Motor has taken the leading to set up the first industry alliance of new energy vehicles in China. By far, the new energy vehicles produced by this company include light-duty motor vehicles, cars, buses and medium and heavy trucks. Foton Motor expects to become the world leading automobile producer with ten years as its “2020 Strategy”. Also, the project of the establishing of 50-50 joint venture with Daimler has obtained the approval from Ministry of Commerce. This joint venture plans to realize the sales of 1500000 units by 2015, 30% for exporting and energy-saving automobiles accounting for 10%.
