In this seminar, the Technical Director of London bus public transport group, Phil Margrave introduced the London bus management system and operation condition. He pointed out even in London, the subway network was well-developed, the bus also transported as many as three times passengers as the subway did. Kowloon, Hong Kong bus chief mechanical engineer Kane Y.H. Shum also shared how Kowloon buses lowered the operating costs and improved operation efficiency experience. China's public transportation experts Xu KangMing emphasized the BRT had played an important role to ease the increasingly serious urban traffic problems in Beijing and any other Chinese cities.
Anders Folkesson from Scania bus department shared the research and application solutions on the alternative energy. He pointed out through the ethanol engine technology and the mature technology application in the existing market, carbon dioxide emissions of the bus could reduce 90% and the fuel efficiency could be increased by 40%.
"The existing technology and alternative energy emissions clean technology has become increasingly mature and economy." Scania China coach director Bo Martinsson said, "In alternative energy research and application of the market, Scania is always in the industry's leading place. Since 1989, Scania launched ethanol power bus, it has already sold more than 600 units of such type of buses. At the same time, Scania is also one of the first manufacturers that launched the engines that was European VI emission standards ."
