Chery's new Guizhou bus factory to begin operation by end of 2012

Chery has begun work on its new bus factory in Guizhou's capital of Guiyang, according to some Chinese media reports. The manufacturer has invested 1.2 billion yuan ($190.37m) in the site, which has been confirmed to begin production by the end of the year.
The site, which will focus specifically on producing buses and new energy vehicles, will feature a 32,000 sq. m. assembly and painting hall. Its total production capacity is expected to reach a total of 30,000 vehicles by 2020.
Chery purchased the rights to the site from local manufacturer Wanda Vehicles. Prior to the acquisition, Chery's only bus factory till now was a small site in Wuhu, Anhui, which presently possesses an annual production capacity of only 1,500 units.
The bus project will be built in two phases, the initial project will be invested for 1.2 billion Yuan to produce buses and new energy vehicles, and more new energy vehicles will be produced in the second phase, and the annual output will amount to 30,000 units till 2020.
Chery Bus purchased Wanda Bus which is a local bus builder, and there is only a small bus production base back in Wuhu with annual output about 1,500 buses.
