www.chinabuses.org: Recently, Jiangsu ALFA Bus Corporation has delivery its first pure electric buses which were ordered by Italian urban passenger vehicle operator LAMA to Shanghai Port, then they will be exported to Grosseto, Italy.
From the staff of Jiangsu ALFA Bus Corporation, it was at the World Bus Expo held in Asia, the Italian urban passenger vehicle operator LAMA showed great interests in the pure electric bus manufactured by Jiangsu ALFA Bus, and stated its intention to make a sizeable purchase of such vehicles to use in Grosseto, Italy. However, pure electric vehicles cannot be exported to Italy unless they gain an EU WVTA, a very strict form of approvals that the EU Committee ensures member countries implement on whole vehicles, safety components and systems on the basis of EC directives and regulations.
Finally, through all aspects hard working, TÜV Rheinland awarded EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) to the Jiangsu ALFA Bus Corporation, the first Chinese manufacturer successfully exports electrical city bus to Italy in conformity with European standards.
Drawing on the abundant experience and professional technologies in automobile testing and certification, TÜV Rheinland carried out the related testing for half a year, certifying 26 system approvals.
LAMA, the Italian operator, commented that Chinese electric buses featuring zero emissions, low noise level, and less pollution were very competitive in Europe. While most Chinese vehicles are exported to developing countries, few ever enter the developed EU market. Hence, Jiangsu ALFA Bus gaining a ticket to EU market is very significant for the whole Chinese electric vehicle industry.
