On August 21st, Alfa started its new-energy bus project in Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province. With total investment of CNY 5 billion, the project covers 1000 mu (about 667,000m2). The first phase includes CNY 2.5 billion investment, 220 thousand m2 of modern plants and 3 thousand devices. Sales income is expected to be CNY 18 billion, tax being CNY 1.5 billion.
Currently, pure-electric buses are developed only in China and many have been exported to European countries. For example, Alfa won the order of 100 pure-electric buses from Italy in 2010.While in domestic market, there are 1500 pure-electric buses used in China, 120 of which are from Alfa.
