However, as in the first three quarters of 2012, it was the dull season for the sales performance of the heavy-duty trucks. But according the traditional sales data, in the fourth quarter, it is the busy season. However, it is not sure about the sales growth in the following quarter.
For the first seven months, Chinese assemblers sold a total of 4.0 million commercial vehicles, including 2.3 million trucks of all sizes. Of this total, heavy-duty trucks accounted for approximately 650,000 units. Most experts believe that China’s heavy duty truck sales will reach 900,000 units for the full year. But for the sales of the heavy-duty trucks in Jan.-July 2012 were 410,000, which decreased by 31 percent.
However, on Sept. 3, 2012, China Weichai Power set up Strategic Cooperation with the world's second-largest forklift truck maker -- German Kion Group and to buy a one-quarter stake in German forklift truck maker Kion Group. The 738 million-euro (922 million U.S. dollars) deal was signed in Jinan and it marked the greatest direct investment in a German firm made by a Chinese company to date.
For Weichai Power Shares, it is warned that the investor should also be cautious on it as the whole heavy- duty industry is till uncertain in the following quarter.
