www.chinabuses.org :On March 18th, 2013, 82 new buses were put into operation on 5 lines in Nanjing, all of which are natural gas fuelled, and of new designs, with the price being very expensive. As the reporter learned, one of the lines is the No. 5 line, which is scheduled to stop running. Is it a huge waste to allot new buses to No.5 line? Nanjing Jiangnan Bus Company introduced that after the No. 5 bus line is stopped, all the buses will be operating on the No.9 bus line running through Xinjiekou, Sun Yat-sen mausoleum.

As the reporter learned, on March 18th, 82 new buses will start running on No. 26, No. 52, No. 5, No. 317 bus lines, of which 5 will be running on No. 5 bus line, with the models being Golden Dragon LNG bus, a real big bus. The design of the bus is in tune with trends in Europe, luxurious and dynamic. Compared with older generations, Golden Dragon is much more comfortable and serve as a beautiful scenery for cities.” said one staff of Jiangnan bus company. This bus will be the major bus model for the proposed “city of buses”.

In 2013, Jiangnan bus company upgraded 510 buses, accounting for 15% of all buses it owns. So far, 204 new buses has been delivered. The first batch of 56 new buses just rolled off line in early February, for lines of K1, K2 and No.16; The second batch of 60 new buses will be allocated to the lines of No. 97 and No. 9 in early March. While, for the third batch, the company decided to allocate to the soon-to-be-stopped line No.5.

Since the No.5 bus line overlaps with subway line 2, the management has decided to stop it. Many citizens, upon knowing the news, organized farewells to the No.5 bus line.

A staff with Jiangnnan bus company told the reporter that there are 15 buses in operation on the bus line No.5. 10 out of the 15 are in good condition, with the remaining 5 buses of older model and in a relatively bad condition. The natural gas fuelled buses are purchased as replacement, because the old buses are no longer suitable for urban transportation. Generally, old buses will be used in rural areas.

“Although the bus line will be stopped soon, we have to guarantee the operation till then.” The staff told the reporter. It is a common practice to replace the 5 old buses with new ones. No squander will be caused.

After the No.5 bus line is stopped, all the buses will be joining No. 9 bus line.

The No. 9 bus line travels through the urban area of Nanjing from west to east, passing though Lake Mochou, Xinjiekou, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum on the way, is a famous travelling bus line in Nanjing. In the future, 15 buses from No. 5 bus line will join the No. 9 bus line, which are all in good condition, with good exterior appearance, comfortable to take, and environmental-friendly. The buses will help showing the good image of Nanjing.
