"Sales of commercial vehicles are highly sensitive to economic conditions," China Motor president Liu Hsin-tai said. "In 2008, many businesses sold their commercial vehicles because of dire economic prospects."

Last year, local sales of commercial vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tonnes totaled 10,400 units, accounting for 90 percent of total sales.

The 15th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2013) with the tagline "Innovation for Better Life" ended in success on April 29. It could be seen that not only the domestic commercial vehicle brands but also more multinational commercial vehicles giants are increasingly valuing the Chinese market.

The organizers of Auto Shanghai 2013 continued to expand the exhibition area for commercial vehicles, allocating half of Pavilion N2 to showcase these vehicles.

FAW Jiefang, Dongfeng, SAIC, Iveco, Sino Truck, Beiqi Foton, Mercedes-Benz LCV, JAC, Brilliance Auto, MAN, Sweden Scania, Shenyang Jinbei, and Zhong-ou Automobile showcased their new commercial vehicles at Pavilion N2 and at the outside public space. The showcasing of the commercial vehicles was one of the highlights in Auto Shanghai 2013.

China's domestic commercial makers was posing a significant challenge to traditional multinational industry leaders. Chinese domestic brands have experienced a giant leap forward in progress by shifting from mere imitation of foreign counterparts to self-innovation.

Today's Auto Shanghai is considered as one of the shows worldwide by three multinational commercial vehicle giants, IVECO, German MAN and Scania, who brought four new commercial vehicles show in China.

Besides, in order to march into China market, Daimler Trucks and Buses China Limited fortifies company’s commercial vehicle quest. This development is part of the realignment of Daimler in the Chinese market catering to a segment of demanding customers in a growing auto environment.

China commercial vehicle market is a big cake for home and abroad commercial vehicle makers.
