Major Breakthrough in China’s High-Energy Vehicle Lithium Battery

2013-07-02    Source:www.chinabuses.org
Summarize:Supported by the country’s 863 Plan in “Twelfth Five-Year” period, the project of “developing high-energy lithium battery system and package” makes a significant progress. According to the website of Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the energy density of the battery cell reaches 138.6 watt-hour/kilogram, power density is 915.6 watt/kilogram, capacity retention ratio is 94.1% after 1,200 times of circulation. The result has been massively applied to 50 ampere-hour power battery.

For the automobile used 38.4 volt/50 ampere-hour batter module, the energy density reaches 121 watt-hour/kilogram, power density 800 watt/kilogram; the 345.6 volt/50 ampere-hour battery system has applied to Chery’s small electric vehicle and Aoxin electric sanitation vehicle.

According to the website of MOST, the project has made significant progress in localizing manufacturing equipment, for example, a closed automatic feeding system is developed; a battery that can automatically clamped battery is turned into a frock clamp, improving the uniformity of battery.

As a matter of fact, the rapid development of lithium battery technology will push forward the fast growth of lithium battery industry. Predicted by the world-renowned consulting firm Frost Sullivan, the lithium battery has a very profitable future. By 2015, production of China’s power lithium battery will be 3.9 billion ampere hours and at that time, the number of China’s electric vehicles is around 120,000 units which will consume 900 million ampere hours. The lithium battery will come into a stage of 100 billion ampere hours.
