Apart from R&D of the key accessories, the production base will also manufacture pure electric buses, mid-sized buses, minibuses, logistics buses and accessories.
The whole project are consisting of three phases, including the assembly lines for the pure electric buses in the first phase, the production lines for the pure electric special vehicles in the second phase, and the four process production lines reserved for pure electric special vehicles in the third phase. The new vehicles in the first phase will go offline next year. After the full operation of the whole project, the annual production value is expected to amount up to ten billions yuan.
As one of the pilot cities for the new energy bus in China, Wuhan plans to put another ten thousand new energy buses into operation towards the end of 2015. Hubei province needs 3,000 new energy buses each year, and the relevant industries values more than ten billion yuan. According to insiders, BYD’s settlement in Wuhan will enhance its competitiveness in the local market.
