www.chinabuses.org: On Jan. 7, 2015, the first new energy bus route 286A in Nanhai Dist., Foshan started operation officially. At Qiandenghu Bus Station, a grand ceremony was held to kick-start the official delivery of 78 units of Golden Dragon plug-in gas-electric hybrid buses. As the first batch of hybrid vehicles introduced by Foshan Nanhai Foguang Transportation Group Co., Ltd, the delivery marks the beginning of a new era for the application of new energy vehicles in Nanhai Dist.
Currently, it has become increasingly a norm instead of an exception to see those energy-saving and new energy buses working on the street. Cao Zhifeng, manager of Technical Department of Nanhai Foguang Group told our reporter that the company is now embracing a new age of green public transportation.
“We have already done a lot of preparations to make this happen. From the initial trial operation to the current official operation, Golden Dragon has lent us tremendous help. We are particularly satisfied with the bus maker’s service,” says an official from the bus operator. After winning the contract in Dec. 2014, Golden Dragon raced against the clock to produce buses for the bus operator in Foshan. Very impressively, the company accomplished such a heavy task in 18 days thanks to the teamwork and amazing work efficiency of Golden Dragon staff.

Measuring 10.5 meters in length, the newly introduced hybrid new energy buses are powered alternately by LNG and electricity. According to a roughly estimate, each new vehicle can cut energy consumption by about 40% at least compared with an ordinary oil-fueled bus. This means the vehicle can save over 60 RMB every one hundred kilometers and reduce PM 2.5 by 90%. Say a bus is running 200 km per day, it will help its operator save 43,000 RMB per year. Now the bus operator in Nanhai Dist., Foshan only has 78 units new energy buses, which account for less than 3.5% of the company’s bus fleet. Along with the introduction of more such energy efficient vehicles, the bus operator can certainly expect to cut its operating costs even more substantially.
So far, Golden Dragon’s new energy hybrid bus fleet has been in smooth operation in Foshan for over two months. Their impressive stability, energy efficiency and maneuverability have won praises from everybody in Nanhai Foguang Public Transport Group.
