In March, 2015, Venezuelan government and Yutong signed an agreement on building a joint venture in Venezuela. Haiman Trudy, minister of Venezuelan Ministry of Land Transport points out that "the bus assembly lines jointly built with Yutong will boast the highest technological level. Buses produced by the joint venture will not only meet the demand in Venezuela, but also be exported to the neighbouring countries."
In May, Venezuelan President Maduro revealed that Sino-Venezuelan bus assembly factory would start production in October this year. He also spoken highly of the cooperation with China and said Venezuela would have its own bus production lines thanks to such cooperative project with Yutong.
According to President Maduro, Venezuela is now trying to replace its out-dated bus fleet. In 2015 alone, the country is planning to introduce 1,000 new buses. So far, the government has delivered 715 units new buses to its public bus operators across the country.
