On Jun. 29 in 2011, Lhasa municipal government purchased the city’s first batch of 53 units school buses by making a total investment of 13.727 million RMB. Since China launched school bus standardization drive on July 1st in 2010, the school bus fleet brought immense changes to the region and it also marked a new milestone in the development history of school buses in China.
On Dec. 20, 2014, just days before the 60th anniversary of the opening of Sichuan-Qinghai-Tibet road, Yutong ZK6816HIY and ZK6729DT1, China’s first bus models, specially designed for the high altitude region, arrived in Lhasa. Despite the high altitude, thin air, low air pressure and challenging road conditions, Yutong buses have been delivering unparalleled performances. These buses specially designed for high altitude has also brought China’s bus-making industry to a new height. After driving 7,380 kilometers in Tibet, both Yutong ZK6816HIY and ZK6729DT1 ranked the first place in a performance competition with their counterparts in ten aspects.
“Yutong buses have been witnessing the continued prosperity of Tibet and undoubtedly they have made immeasurable contributions to the development of local transportation industry,” says an expert.
