www.chinabuses.org: On July 2, 2016, Foton Automobile Group (hereafter referred to as Foton) and Hanergy Holding Group Limited (hereafter referred to as Hanergy) officially signed a framework agreement in Beijing for jointly developing solar-powered buses. After its groundbreaking work in hydrogen fuel cell buses, Foton is once again playing a pioneering role in bringing a new storm in the global bus manufacturing industry. The move made by Foton signifies revolutionary changes in the future bus industry, making the traditional power system permanently off the historical stage.
A great launch party event was held
As is known to all, solar power is ultimately the cleanest energy and the more reliable and inexhaustible energy for human beings. To effectively harness the power has long become the Holy Grail in the global energy industries. According to experts’ estimate, China’s vehicles will reach 400 million units in number by 2030. In the meantime, the sales of electric vehicles will account for 10%-50% of the total sales of new energy vehicles, reaching 40 million to 200 million units. If the sales of solar-powered vehicles take a market share of only 10% of all electric vehicles, it will still reach a sizable number of 4 million units.

By adding 300,000 units solar-powered vehicles on the road each year in China, the country’s emission of carbon dioxide will be cut by 1.11 million tons. Moreover, each solar-powered vehicle is able to save fuel costs by 10,000 RMB or electricity bill by 3,000 RMB. Compared with a traditional electric vehicle, solar-powered vehicle can save 335-402 hours for just recharging. What’s more, there is no need for building recharging facilities. Obviously, in the face of depletion of fossil fuels and rising pressure for environmental protection, solar power has pointed out the ideal way for all human beings to walk out of current energy dilemma.
A decade ago, Foton started its research & development (R&D) in hydrogen fuel cell buses. In May this year, Foton AUV successfully won an order of 100 units hydrogen fuel cell buses. In addition, it has rolled out BJ6180BRT driverless concept bus, making new history in the “Internet +” era.

In recent years, Foton has become increasingly associated with innovation and state-of-art technologies. Its urgent sense of responsibility and its commitment to the green transport have both contributed to its continued commercial success. As early as 2003, Foton kicked off its research & development of new energy buses. Currently, the bus maker boasts a whole spectrum of new energy vehicles, including plug-in hybrid, electric and fuel cell buses. Foton Super Bus BJ6122 is one of the classics. Equipped with iFoton intelligent control system and the third generation e-AIR intelligent circulation system, BJ6122 can be monitored in real-time. Integrating such brand new concepts of “e-Safety”, “e-Environmental-friendliness”, “e-Reliability” and “e-Control”, the super bus lives up to its name, greatly upgrading the service level for high-end passenger transportation and group reception as well as distance passenger transportation.
Apart from its wide array of new energy vehicles, Foton has also rolled out “24-h New Energy Bus Solutions”. So far, its new energy buses have made their way to every provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across China and have been gaining popularity around the world.
