www.chinabuses.org: On September 27, the 2nd China Ancient Village & Town Conference was held in Binzhou International Exhibition Center. Nearly 1,000 people from all across China and guests from Germany, Italy, South Korea and Japan attended the conference. Focusing on “localization and internationalization”, all the participants held in-depth discussions on revitalizing villages of ethnic minorities, building intelligent ancient villages and protecing ancient villages and towns.

In an effort to protect the cultural relics and preserve the eco-balance of ancient villages and towns in China, the conference showcased a hydrogen fuel cell bus, which features the same level of convenience compared with traditional fuel powered vehicles. According to sources, it only takes about ten minutes for the bus to get a hydrogen refill. Moreover, it has already been called the ultimate environmentally friendly vehicle thanks to its zero-emission standards and it is able to drive 500 kilometers continuously.

During the opening ceremony of the conference, Cui Honggang, mayor of Binzhou, together with other officials from Binzhou municipal government took a closer look at the hydrogen fuel cell bus, making detailed inquires about the vehicle. The engine of hydrogen fuel cell bus is able to convert hydrogen and oxygen into electric power through electrochemical reaction. Thus, the operation of the vehicle does not involve any combustion and mechanical wear, generating only electricity, water, heat and little noise. The vehicle has brought hope for the protection of Chinese ancient villages and towns and their sustainable development.

Jointly developed by Beijing SinoHytec Co., Ltd. (also known as SinoHytec) and BAIC Foton Motor Co., Ltd. (also known as Foton), the bus is equipped with the hydrogen fuel cells independently developed by SinoHytec.
• In 2008, Foton developed a fuel cell bus, which was put into use for Beijing Olympic Games.
• In 2010, Foton jointly developed a fuel cell bus with Sunwin and the vehicle was later put into service for Shanghai Expo.
• In 2014, Foton jointly developed the world’s first low-floor access hydrogen fuel cell trolley with CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd.
• In 2015, Foton developed China’s first hydrogen fuel cell logistic vehicle.
• In 2016, Foton and Yutong jointly developed 8-meter hydrogen fuel cell bus for group passenger transportation.
After a decade’s development, SinoHytec has developed its third generation hydrogen fuel cell engine, which is mature enough in terms of costs, performance and reliability for mass production.
