On September 19, Nobina, a bus operator from Sweden placed an order of 26 units electric buses on BYD, including 11 units 12-meter electric city buses, 10 units 18-meter electric articulated city buses and 5 units 8.7-meter electric mid-coaches.

So far this year, the total sales volume of BYD electric buses on Scandinavia Peninsula has reached 100 units, marking a new milestone for the bus maker’s business expansion in the region.

All the 26 units buses are scheduled to arrive in Lidkoping, Boras and Ale for operation in the summer of 2019. In addition, they will all be managed by Västtrafik, a bus dealer in charge of the public transport in Västra Götaland in southwest Sweden.

It is revealed the 5 units electric mid-coaches will be the first batch of electric mid-coaches to arrive in Sweden. Having appeared at Busworld Exhibition 2017 in Belgium, the vehicle has already won orders from Netherlands and Italy.

After Norway, Sweden is the second European country to introduce BYD articulated city buses. In early July this year, 42 units BYD 18-meter electric city buses officially started operation in Oslo, Norway.

So far, BYD electric buses have made their way to over 70 cities in 20-plus countries in Europe. Currently, BYD takes a leading position in European electric bus market.

“Facing intense competition from a number of rivals and harsh weather conditions, we have managed to maintain a fast growing momentum in Europe. We will continue to contribute our own part to combat global warming and air pollution in Europe,” said He Yipeng, General Manager of BYD Europe Co., Ltd.

“BYD electric buses are extremely competitive in the market not only because they have very attractive public transport solutions, but also because they provide greener, quieter and more comfortable travel experiences for our passengers,” said Martin Atterhall, General Manager of Nobina.(www.chinabuses.org)
