On October 23, 2021 World Internet of Things Expo was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu province. On the same day, China’s first 5G-connected autonomous driving bus-sharing service was officially launched in six cities across China, including Wuxi and Suzhou. Passengers can easily order bus transportation services with a special APP on their smart phone.
According to sources, the 5G-connected autonomous driving bus-sharing service was jointly developed by Golden Dragon and QCraft. Golden Dragon’s Star autonomous driving mini buses are equipped with an autonomous driving system called Driven-by-QCraft. Reaching L4-level autonomous driving, they are readily adaptable to various working scenarios.
Measuring less-than-six-meter in length, Star autonomous driving mini-bus has nine seats on board and is an ideal choice for transportation services in urban communities and some scenic spots.
Since its debut, Golden Dragon Star mini-bus has sold over 1,800 units. After introducing the autonomous driving system, it has been gaining a steadily rising popularity in the market. Having successfully obtained China’s first operation permit for autonomous driving buses, it started operation on a bus route in Suzhou in July, 2020. With a one-way trip of over four kilometers, the bus route has five bus stations on its way and has to deal with extremely complex traffic conditions at over ten crossings. In just five months, Star mini-buses provided more convenient transportation services for over 11,000 passengers. It is estimated that they receive 58 transportation service orders on average each day. Later, the bus was put into service on the pilot 5G connected autonomous driving mini-bus routes in Wuhan, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Wuzhen and Israel.
According to Golden Dragon, it has been working closely with QCraft in recent years. With a new autonomous driving bus Longzhou One to hit the market soon, the two parties aim to play a leading role in the public transportation sector in the 21st century.
