Gabriel Boric, Chilean President, Juan Carlos Muñoz, Transport Minister, and Pablo Silva Amaia, governor of O’Higgins Province, together with a number of distinguished guests witnessed the historical moment.

At the ceremony, Gabriel Boric, Chilean President, spoke highly of Zhongtong electric city buses, saying “they drive smoothly and achieve high safety standards”. Among many passenger-friendly features on board are their special facilities for those physically-challenged people. By working in Rancagua, Zhongtong electric city buses will not only provide more convenient and comfortable transportation services for local citizens, but also help the city combat air pollution.

As a part of the city’s drive to upgrade its public transportation network, Zhongtong electric city buses officially usher in a new era of green travel for local residents. According to Zhongtong, all the new arrivals belong to N series city buses with low-floor access. They will soon start service in Rancagua city in O’Higgins Province.

In 2021, 38 units Zhongtong travel coaches powered by electricity appeared in Chile, making a new record in the country’s history of bus import.

In 2023, 40 units Zhongtong electric city buses officially started operation in Antofagasta, the second city in Chile to have electric buses in operation. Having been working smoothly for nearly one year, they has greatly spurred other cities in Chile to follow suit.

Currently, over 2,000 units Zhongtong buses & coaches, including 200+ units new energy ones, are working smoothly in cities across Chile, playing a pivotal role in the country’s public transport network.
