The Nordic countries—Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, along with their affiliated islands—are commonly associated with adjectives such as economically developed, livable, romantic, elegant, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly. This region consistently tops global rankings for the happiest countries, wealthiest countries, best welfare benefits, and most livable cities.
The Nordics implement a "low-carbon, renewable energy policy," reducing reliance on fossil fuels and investing heavily in renewable energy. They also adopt strict environmental protection policies, such as limiting carbon emissions and promoting clean energy. Nordic people actively participate in environmental protection activities, such as conserving water, reducing car travel, and minimizing the use of single-use plastic products. In such an environmentally conscious and energy-saving region, what kind of buses would be favored by the local people?
Tommy Olsen, CEO of EuroBus Nordic
Since its establishment in 2014, EuroBus Nordic has been focused on the electric bus sector for ten years. "In the Nordic region, EuroBus Nordic is dedicated to providing customers with high-quality buses equipped with advanced electric drive systems. So far, we have introduced over 300 units of Golden Dragon electric buses to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden," said Tommy Olsen during an interview at Golden Dragon Haicang production base.
When meeting Tommy Olsen, he was inspecting a new prototype, the pure white Golden Dragon electric Triumph model. "The buses we introduce range from 9 to 18 meters in length, with the Triumph model being particularly popular in Scandinavia." Given the vast and sparsely populated Nordic region with its emphasis on environmental protection, bicycles are a must-have travel tool for everyone, while longer distances often rely on the region's mature public transportation. Therefore, buses have a high utilization rate in the Nordic region, naturally demanding high quality.
"Given the high environmental standards in Scandinavia, almost all new vehicles are electric-driven," said Tommy Olsen. "We examined many electric bus companies. Starting from 2017, Golden Dragon prototype underwent a two-year trial operation in Denmark, exceeding 100,000 kilometers, with surprising results. Currently, Golden Dragon electric buses operating in the Nordic region are highly reliable. In many areas, our buses run over 100,000 kilometers annually, with minimal downtime due to technical issues."
The Nordic region experiences long, cold winters with frequent snow cover. The wet air, as well as the corrosive components in deicing agents and industrial salts used on roads, necessitate durable materials. Golden Dragon buses exported to the Nordics adopt a fully stainless steel body, offering strong corrosion resistance, high cold resistance, and good flexibility, making it the most suitable material for the Nordic region. Zeng Zhijun, Sales Manager at Golden Dragon Overseas Sales Company, explained, "The Golden Dragon buses operating in the Nordics are our most advanced and mature electric vehicle products. They are highly intelligent, featuring Golden Dragon self-developed new energy system, a stainless steel frame, and an intelligent temperature control system. The product's technical level is exquisite, receiving high praise from both drivers and passengers."
Speaking of the cooperation with Golden Dragon, Tommy Olsen gave a thumbs-up to Zeng Zhijun, who accompanied him during the vehicle inspection, saying, "Golden Dragon has a professional and dedicated team. They have come to the Nordics multiple times to provide technical support." Vehicle engineers from Golden Dragon Overseas Sales Company often spend half a year or more in the Nordics, even traveling during the pandemic and spending the Spring Festival there. They provide on-site technical support in Denmark and Norway, while also training EuroBus Nordic employees and local subcontractors to ensure the smooth operation of Golden Dragon buses in the Nordics. "Golden Dragon sales and after-sales team have given us tremendous support, helping us successfully promote our products and improve our vehicle maintenance capabilities," praised Tommy Olsen, who spoke highly of Golden Dragon team's capabilities and efficiency.
The Nordic market has long been dominated by high-end European and American bus companies. Golden Dragon has been actively targeting the Nordic high-end market, repeatedly deploying teams to conduct market research and analysis. In the Nordics, Golden Dragon buses face dual competition from various domestic and international brands. Today, Golden Dragon electric buses have secured a place in the Nordic region and received widespread acclaim. Looking to the future, Tommy Olsen is full of confidence: "My main purpose in visiting Xiamen is to visit Golden Dragon factory and products, preparing for our cooperation in the coming years. The partnership between EuroBus Nordic and Golden Dragon is increasingly strong. We are confident in our joint development prospects. With the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market, we will continue to develop exceptional bus products with Golden Dragon. We believe that we will be able to sell more Golden Dragon buses in the Nordics in the future."
