On December 18, 2024, the first batch of 10 18-meter pure electric buses "assembled" at the CRRC Electric's dispatch center and were ready to be shipped to Maputo, the capital of Mozambique in southern Africa, via the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa Rail-Sea Intermodal Transport Corridor.
The vehicles exported by CRRC Electric to Mozambique are pure electric BRT vehicles developed based on CRRC Electric's 18-meter pure electric bus products, tailored to the actual needs of Mozambican customers.
The vehicle is 17.98 meters long, 2.54 meters wide, and 3.3 meters high, with a maximum passenger capacity of 150. It is equipped with CATL's latest generation of lithium iron phosphate batteries, which can meet the daily operation needs when fully charged. It is also equipped with motors and electronic control systems independently developed by CRRC Electric, providing strong power and lower electricity consumption.
"The color of the vehicle is very eye-catching and fits well with our country's style," said Wang Qiang, a Mozambican engineer. Currently, the public transportation vehicles used in Mozambique are mainly fuel vehicles. Compared to fuel vehicles, this batch of vehicles offers better safety and comfort, and it is believed that they will provide a better travel experience for local residents.
It is worth mentioning that in addition to providing complete vehicle products to Mozambican customers, CRRC Electric also offered professional training services. Currently, the first batch of four Mozambican engineers have undergone nearly three months of training at CRRC Electric's factory, Hunan Automotive Engineering Polytechnic, and Zhuzhou Public Transport Base, where they have thoroughly learned about vehicle driving, maintenance, and other related knowledge.
CRRC Electric's high-quality products and enthusiastic and professional training have deeply impressed Mozambican customers. It is reported that both parties have signed a strategic cooperation agreement and a new vehicle procurement contract. In the coming years, CRRC Electric will provide more pure electric bus products to Mozambique and carry out localized production cooperation in Mozambique, contributing to the green transformation of public transportation in Mozambique.
